Why We Built This Site
California does not offer a general public name search of the state criminal-history repository. In San Francisco, the Superior Court keeps filed charges, dockets, dispositions, and sentences. SFPD handles incident reports and local RAP-sheet products, while the Sheriff maintains jail and custody information. The California Department of Justice provides fingerprint-based review of a person's own state record, CDCR supplies state incarceration information, and the California Megan's Law Website publishes the information state law allows. We organize the verified request routes, public portals, contact details, and fee information for those separate custodians.
What You Will Find Here
- Agency contacts: verified routes to San Francisco court, police, Sheriff, and California record custodians
- Record guides: how local criminal court files, arrest records, jail data, and registry entries differ
- Official review steps: how California DOJ fingerprint record review works for a person's own state record
- Record relief information: where California expungement, dismissal, sealing, and correction processes begin
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site with no affiliation to a California court, police department, sheriff's office, or state agency. Those boundaries mean:
- We do not issue certified court papers, police reports, local RAP sheets, or DOJ records
- We cannot submit a public-records request or record-relief petition for a reader
- We do not run official criminal-history checks or retrieve a record for someone
- We cannot interpret a charge, advise on a case, or provide legal representation
- We cannot promise that an agency's fee, hours, address, or phone has not changed
Only the San Francisco or California office that keeps an original record can issue its official copy; this site can identify that custodian but cannot supply the document.
Search Partners
Search boxes on some pages are operated by outside providers. Each provider controls its own service, results, and prices. If a visitor follows one of those tools and purchases a service, this site may receive a referral payment that supports free access to the reference material. We neither set the provider's charge nor control the information returned.
