This Is Not a Government Office. This private reference site cannot pull or certify criminal records, conduct an official check, correct a government file, or accept a California expungement or sealing petition.
Need an Official Record?
Use the official San Francisco or California custodian for each record:
- Court files: San Francisco Superior Court Criminal Clerk, Hall of Justice, 850 Bryant Street, Room 101, San Francisco, CA 94103; 415-551-0651; Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m., closed noon-1:00 p.m.
- Police incident reports: SFPD Crime Information Services Unit / Records Management, 1245 3rd Street, 1st Floor, San Francisco, CA 94158; 415-575-7232; Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., excluding holidays.
- Local RAP sheets and clearance letters: SFPD Identification Bureau, 850 Bryant Street, Room 475, San Francisco, CA 94103; 415-553-1415.
- Jail, booking, and custody records: San Francisco Sheriff's Office through its official “Find a person in jail” search or GovQA public-records portal.
- State criminal-history review: California Department of Justice record review for a person's own fingerprint-based record, using Live Scan Form BCIA 8016RR.
- Expungement or sealing: file with the court that handled the case; the San Francisco Public Defender Clean Slate Program voicemail is 415-553-9337.
San Francisco splits local custody and police records. Sheriff jail or booking requests go through the Sheriff public-records portal. SFPD incident reports go to CISU, not a district police station. Court complaints, dispositions, minutes, and certified copies belong with Room 101 rather than either law-enforcement agency.
